About

Background

I'm Grant Anderson, a computer science undergraduate at Allegheny College graduating in 2027, with a side focus on studio art.

Most of what I build starts as a problem I ran into personally. A music library that wouldn't fit on the drive became a batch conversion pipeline. A site trapped on a closed hosting platform became a reason to learn Astro and Cloudflare's build tooling properly. I find I learn considerably more from projects with a real constraint attached than from tutorials.

Alongside that I spend a lot of time on systems design — currently a co-op horror game whose tension is driven by a hidden simulation value rather than scripted events. Designing a system whose behavior stays interesting when you can't predict its inputs is a genuinely different discipline from writing code that does what you told it to, and I think it's made me better at both.

My most recent research is Graphene-HA, a cross-language object-escape analyzer that fuses static analysis with direct heap-growth measurement across Python, Java, JavaScript, Go and Rust. On a 1,421-target labeled benchmark, heap tracking alone reached 100% accuracy, and the fused pipeline raised overall accuracy from 61.2% to 83.7% with perfect recall.

Starting in fall 2026 I'll be doing solo undergraduate research across two semesters. I'm weighing two directions: detecting indirect prompt injection at the browser layer in AI agents, and an empirical study of comment staleness mined from repository history — measuring how often comments drift out of sync with the code they describe.
